Family ties – in the 7th generation

The family has lived and worked for wine since 1815. Today, the brothers, in the seventh generation, manage thePeter & Fritz Maytogether with their parents and wives, they run this Burgundy-influenced, ecologically managed flagship winery in Osthofen in the warm Wonnegau region.

Peter & Fritz agree with their father Karl what needs to be done to get a piece of home into the bottle.

The family vineyard extends from Bechtheim through Westhofen to Osthofen and includes two magnificent single vineyard sites: the "limestone" Goldberg and the south-facing, sun-drenched Geyersberg. The oldest Riesling vines are planted on limestone. Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon are rooted in light, calcareous loess soils that warm quickly and produce complex red wines. The geological diversity of the vineyard offers the perfect soil for every vine. The brothers give their wines time and peace to mature; this is the only way their wines can develop their full potential.

Inspired by the well-known fictional character, Peter & Fritz created the cult wine "Blutsbruder" as an expression of home, togetherness, and tradition. In addition to the white and rosé Blutsbruder, you can also find the red Blutsbruder in our shop in 0.75 liter, 1.5 liter, 3.0 liter, 6.0 liter, and 12 liter sizes.

The growing area is located inRhineland-PalatinateinGermanyand is named after the region. The name derives from the historical affiliation of Rheinhessen as the province of the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1816 to 1919. The vineyards cover 26,758 hectares, making it the largest German wine-growing region. The vineyards are located on the left bank of the Rhine bend betweenBingen,Mainzand Worms in the shape of a giant triangle.
