Culinary Summer Finland
“Culinary Summer”, a 7-day culinary “outdoor” adventure in the heart of the spectacular forest and island landscapes of the Saimaa Lake District with its 13,000 islands spread over 4,300 sq km of water, about 35 km south-west of the small town of Savonlinna, on the 61st parallel in southeastern Finland.

In our "Summer Camp" on the small forest island of Pellossalo in the fish-rich Saimaa Lakes, located directly on the water, we stage an authentic culinary adventure in our beautifully furnished, traditional Finnish wooden huts, the seal huts (Norppa-Majat). Authentic preparations of elk, whitetail deer, pike, perch, rainbow trout , and vendace are part of the culinary choreography, as are Black Angus cuts (US grain fed/dry aged). Top international wines from select family wineries from the "forest wine cellar" accompany the daily authentic culinary program. A campfire workshop focuses on vodka and gin distillation.

The Fifth Quarter
Culinary Base
Life in the forest and by the water
Over open wood fires, we celebrate freshwater fish we've caught ourselves, such as pike, trout, whitefish, perch, ide, and crayfish, as well as elk, reindeer, capercaillie, wood pigeons, wild boar, and mallards from the surrounding seemingly endless birch, pine, and larch forests. Breakfast is served outdoors, featuring fresh fruit, Finnish fish and wild berry specialties, wood-fired eggs, coffee, tea, juice, and, of course, individual guest requests. All lunches and dinners are authentically prepared over open birch and pine fires in the "traditional Finnish outdoor kitchen."
Landleben

Camp accommodation
Each of our five exclusively furnished cabins has its own jetty , a motorboat, a rowboat, and a sundeck. No cabin is visible from any other. For physical regeneration, each camp cabin traditionally has its own wood-fired Finnish outdoor forest sauna and an indoor sauna , both with direct access to the lake. Free internet access is available throughout the camp and on the water.
Paradise for anglers
Anglers can fish with hand rods (spinners, plugs, spinners, jigs, or flies) right from the shore or from their own rowing boats and motorboats (4 HP outboards) for trolling and setting traditional perch and crayfish traps. We offer introductory workshops on spin and fly fishing for non-anglers, but of course also for all participants.

Authentically Finnish
An essential part of Finnish culture is the sauna, a practice used to promote health and purify body and mind. Each wooden cabin in our camps has its own electric indoor sauna and a traditional wood-fired outdoor forest sauna .
All saunas are available day and night, and birch and pine wood is also plentiful in each cabin. Traditionally, sauna use in Finland is done in swimwear. During the infusions, the skin's circulation is stimulated by beating it with freshly cut, green birch twigs. (Vihtoja) promoted.
During the camps, we also celebrate the use of the rare smoke sauna (Savu Sauna), which has a particularly positive effect on the skin. Each sauna hut has direct access to the lake, allowing you to comfortably step across the forest floor into the refreshing water. Exiting the water is via a ladder onto the private jetty and sunbathing area.
All contents and services described above are included in the “all inclusive” price of the trip without exception.
