“Culinary Outdoor”
Against spectacular natural backdrops and in mostly sparsely or unpopulated areas, Roland presents authentic dishes cooked over open wood fires around the world. Through tasting regional specialties and the intensive experience of nature, he provides deep insights into the traditions and history of each country and conveys the character and intellectual values of the respective people. The up-close experience of water, earth, air, and fire forms a powerful counterpoint to everyday life in an increasingly virtual world. In his so-called "camps," Roland celebrates maximum reduction and stages lastingly impressive nature experiences. Unconventional methods of preparing regional meat, fish, and fresh vegetables over open wood fires in the great outdoors slow down the pace and focus on the essentials.

Culinary Camps
Roland, the soul of "The Fifth Quarter" and globally active "culinary outdoor director," has learned and studied winemaking from the ground up in Bordeaux, South Africa, California, Mexico, and Germany since the late 1980s. Parallel to his European homeland, his thinking and actions as a person and entrepreneur were shaped by an intensive period in South Africa in the early 1990s, as well as by his additional focus on Asian cultures from 2000 to 2015. Under the banner "The Fifth Quarter," he has gained international expertise with his demystifying wine and food presentations.

Respect & Distance
...and yet still up close. The Fifth Quarter team is equipped with a HIKmicro Habrok Pro HX60LN thermal imaging camera , night vision goggles , and binoculars at all camps. This means you'll experience animal sightings not only during the day, but also during natural, unobserved behavior in the pitch-dark of night. The thermal binoculars make animals visible even in daylight when we can't see them with the naked eye due to their natural camouflage.
