Our area is called “Emt” by the indigenous nomads and is located about 80 km south of the Mongolian-Russian border with Siberia and Lake Baikal, the largest drinking water lake in the world.
Paradise for anglers
Mongolia is considered one of the world's absolute insider tips among anglers. Our river camp is located directly on one of Mongolia's three top fishing waters, the crystal-clear Eg River . This river is one of the most sought-after fishing grounds for the prehistoric taimen , the largest member of the salmonid family of salmon, trout, and grayling. If you'd like to try it, you have the option of fishing from a motorboat or from the shore. All the necessary equipment for spinning and fly fishing is available.

mobility
Mongolia is home to approximately 3 million people, of which approximately 1.4 million live in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia is four times the size of Germany. Mongolia is home to 80 million horses, goats, sheep, cattle, and camels.
The traditional means of transport in the impassable terrain of this unique steppe landscape is the horse , but also the 4×4 Landcruiser , the speed dinghy or airplane/helicopter ... or on foot.
Excursions
From the river camp as our starting point, we embark on day trips by high-powered motorboat , 4x4 jeep , and on foot through rugged terrain, breathtaking steppe landscapes, and crystal-clear, fish-rich rivers. You'll also experience lunch with a nomadic family during the course of the trip.
The return journey will be by 4×4 off-road vehicle and by plane from Murun to Ulaanbaatar, where we will spend the last night in the 5*Shangrila Hotel to prepare for the return flight and to get used to the civilization of home again.

Steppe cuisine
Against a breathtaking natural backdrop, you will gain in-depth insights into the unique cooking, eating, and drinking habits of Mongolian horse-riding peoples and their lifestyles, shaped by shamanism and Tibetan Buddhism, in sustainable harmony with nature—influenced not least by 200 years of Chinese and 70 years of Russian culture. Traditionally, Mongolian nomads feed themselves with meat and the diverse dairy products of their sheep, goat , and cattle herds, as well as through sustainable hunting and fishing.
Steppe cuisine
A key focus of this trip is on authentic communal cooking methods on open wood fires both inside and outside the camp kitchen. In addition to the traditional preparation of whole goats and sheep with glowing river stones, known as "khorkhot" and "bodoog," the menu also includes delicious yak and marmot meat . We will also celebrate the traditional Mongolian "hot pot," the origin of hot pot culture. You will experience modern Mongolian cuisine on the evening of arrival and departure in Ulaanbaatar.

Steppe Camp
Overnight accommodation at the camp is simple Mongolian style, with single or double occupancy in yurt-like wooden huts. These wooden huts are traditionally heated with wood, and a generator provides electricity. The river camp consists of five wooden huts , a cooking, dining, and lounge hut with a terrace, a separate hut with toilet, washing, and shower facilities including a sauna (western standard, camp-style, and well-maintained), a fire pit, and an outdoor cooking and dining area.
In the land of the eternally blue sky, daytime temperatures in July/August are 20-25°C, while nighttime temperatures are usually between 10-15°C.
Steppe life
Throughout the entire trip, we celebrate the hearty, primal cuisine and traditional food preparation methods of the Mongolian nomads. Hot sun, icy cold, grasslands, whitewater, sand, forest, and rocks are always present. The cuisine is fundamentally very simple, yet refreshingly raw. It is never raw, but always influenced by the natural environment in which the nomads find themselves.
Steppe life
The food preparation methods are influenced by over 5,000 years of horse-riding culture . The meat is usually boiled, and the original, savory flavor is extracted in broths. Mongolian culture is considered the cradle of the "hot pot," which we will showcase in both its traditional and more modern versions.
