Norppa-Majat
The Saimaa Lake District covers a water area of approximately 4,300 sq km. Our "camp," as we call it, consists of six spacious and furnished wooden cottages, located directly on the water over a distance of approximately 900 m. No two cottages are visible from one another. Each cottage has access to a rowboat and a motorboat (4 HP outboard motor), each with its own mooring and sundeck with access to the water. Full internet access is available throughout the "Fishing Camp," even on the water. We provide all the fishing equipment for fly fishing, spin fishing, and trolling.
Slowing down in the rhythm of nature
Fishing is available with hand rods (spinners, lures, spinners, jigs, or flies) right outside the door from the shore, or from our own rowboats and motorboats (4 HP outboards) for trolling and setting traditional perch and crayfish traps. Each of our cabins has its own jetty, two boats, and a sun deck.
For non-anglers, but of course also for all participants, we offer introductory workshops on spin and fly fishing, wilderness walks, kayak tours, SUP boards, island & bay boat hopping as well as daily outdoor cooking workshops .

Authentic Finnish outdoor kitchen
Over open wood fires, we celebrate freshwater fish we've caught ourselves, such as pike, trout, whitefish , perch, ide , and crayfish , as well as elk, reindeer, capercaillie, wood pigeons, young boar, mallards, and chanterelles from the surrounding seemingly endless birch, pine, and larch forests. Authentic preparations of rainbow trout and vendace are part of the culinary choreography, as are Black Angus cuts (US grain fed/dry aged). Top international wines from select family vineyards from the "forest wine cellar" accompany the daily authentic culinary program. A campfire workshop explores the distillation of vodka and gin .
Crayfish, sashimi & caviar
One of the core principles of our worldwide adventures in nature is demystifying wine and food and returning to the original. We use fish traps to catch crayfish in 3-6 m water depths, which we then prepare in a traditional dill broth in a copper kettle over a wood fire. We prepare freshly caught rainbow trout as sashimi, and their roe as caviar. It doesn't get any fresher or more authentic than that.

Forest sauna
An essential part of Finnish culture is the sauna, which promotes health and cleanses the body and mind. Each wooden cabin in our fishing camp has its own electric indoor sauna and a traditional wood-fired outdoor forest sauna . All saunas are available at any time of day or night, and there is plenty of birch and pine wood in each cabin. Traditionally, sauna use in Finland is done in swimwear. During the infusions, blood circulation in the skin is stimulated by beating it with freshly cut, green birch twigs . During “Culinary Fishing” we also celebrate the use of the rare smoke sauna (Savu Sauna), which has a particularly positive effect on the skin. Each sauna cabin has direct access to the lake , making it very pleasant to walk across the forest floor into the refreshing water.
Accommodation in the camp
Accommodation is "traditionally Finnish" in exclusive, private wooden cabins right on the water, nestled in the solitude of the forest. Absolute silence 24/7. The wooden cabins are spacious and generously equipped, clean and authentic, and each features its own kitchen, outdoor barbecue hut, terrace, fireplace, shower/WC , and lounge. Each cabin has an indoor sauna and a traditional wood-fired outdoor forest sauna with direct access to the lake.
