Inverroche Gin Amber, the amber of gins. Distilled in South Africa's first craft gin distillery, it is a pioneer through and through. Its production uses coastal fynbos plants, which only grow in the Cape. The base is a cane spirit, a spirit made from sugar cane. This combination makes Amber a kind of border crosser: clearly a New Western Dry Gin, but in texture and aroma, it is not far removed from a rum. It is a lush, complex gin that harmoniously combines African flora with typical gin spices. It is macerated with tannin-rich coastal plants, which give it its amber color. Earthy base notes combine with aromas of rooibos, caramel, red citrus fruits, and juniper, followed by a tannin-rich finish – that is Inverroche Amber Gin.

Inverroche Distillery

South Africa's southernmost gin distillery, picturesquely situated on the Indian Ocean

Shortly after the turn of the millennium, South African Lorna Scott and her husband Michael, a native of the Scottish Highlands, moved back to South Africa. In 2002, they invested in a small farm on the Goukou River, near its mouth in the Indian Ocean at Stilbaai, and founded the family distillery "Inverroche." Inspired by a passion for living in harmony with nature and exploring the diverse flavors
of the “Fynbos”, the original vegetation of the South African Cape Province with
all its globally unique herbs, grasses, and aromatic plants, and to make them accessible through a distillate. The "Cape Floral Kingdom," as we also call the Cape, offers the Scotsman Michael a paradise to indulge the passion for distillation that is in his DNA. Nothing was more obvious than to realize this through the art of gin distillation. The handling of juniper berries soaked in alcohol and subsequent distillation to make gin was an invention of the Dutch; after all, South Africa was a Dutch colony from 1652 to 1815. Thus, Inverroche stages the extraction of the
Variety of aromas of the South African Fynbos such as sour fig, buchu, rooibos,
Thorn bush, wild Cape geranium and heather, aloe, honey bush, curry bush, crab bush, snake bush, confetti bush and … and … and .. all highly antioxidant and mostly anti-inflammatory botanicals, whose healing power
which the indigenous people of South Africa, the Khoi and the San, already took advantage of.
