Full-bodied and harmonious with notes of black cherries, plums, and a hint of spice. Well-integrated tannins lead to a long, lingering finish.

Selective hand-picking and traditional fermentation, followed by extended maturation in oak barrels to intensify structure and aromas.

Castle of Meleto

Since 1256, the Castello di Meleto has stood perched atop a hill near Gaiole, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The estate covers approximately 1,000 hectares, but only about 150 of these are planted with vines. Naturally, the Chianti grape variety Sangiovese is predominantly cultivated, rooted deep in the limestone-marl soil typical of the region. Meleto's wines have won countless medals and awards over the past 20 years—a success that continues to inspire: In recent years, the winery has worked toward a complete conversion to organic farming and winemaking, making Castello di Meleto the largest organic winery in Chianti Classico in 2021.

Tuscany

The region, with its capital city of Florence, is located in central Italy on the Ligurian coast; it also includes Italy's third-largest island, Elba. It borders Liguria and Emilia-Romagna to the north, Marche and Umbria to the east, and Lazio to the south.

DOCG area for red wines in the Italian region of Tuscany. This wine, which is one quality level higher than "normal" Chianti and subject to stricter regulations, comes from the classic zone defined in 1716 by Grand Duke Cosimo III (1642-1723), a member of the Medici family, but which was much smaller at the time. In 1932, additional areas or municipalities were added, completing the current area. The heavily forested area covers approximately 70,000 hectares, but only 7,000 hectares are used for viticulture.
